2009/2010 Brattleboro Section Fall and Winter Schedule

Type Date Event
Bike November 21 Amherst bike ride, weather permitting. A hunting season special. Call Fred Newton at (603) 363-8944.
Meet December 13 Holiday gathering at Rob and Bonnie Cramp's in Williamsville at 5 p.m. Call them at 348-7158.
Hike/Ski/Snowshoe/Camp December 31 New Year's Eve at Spruce Peak Shelter. Ring in the New Year with the full moon on the Long Trail. Call Mark Brown at 254-4647.
Ski January 9-10 Cardigan Lodge. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing at AMC lodge in the White Mountains. Family style meals provided. Space is limited. Call Peggy Kipp ASAP to reserve a bunk at 579-2752.
Ski January 16 Catamount Trail. Healdville to Ninevah Four Corners in Mount Holly. 8.5 mile section with lunch at snowmobile/biker pub en route. Call Joe Cook at 257-0609.
Ski/Snowshoe January 23 Stratton Pond. Backcountry skiing with great views. Call George Roy at (603) 399-7756.
Ski January 29 Moonlight skiing at the Brattleboro Outing Club. Call Bob Immler at 254-5834.
Ski January 30 Catamount Trail. Mountain Top to Brandon Gap. 10.4 mile section beginning with groomed trails at Mountain Top touring center. Call Joe Cook at 257-0609.
Ski/Camp February 6-7 Wheeler Pond Camp. Skiing and snowshoeing, with overnight at a heated GMC cabin near Lake Willoughby. Ice canoe race at Winter Carnival in Quebec City for those that can make it a long weekend. Call Joe Cook at (802) 257-0609.
Ski/Camp February 20-21 Catamount Trail. West Hill Road in Warren to Appalachian Gap. 7 mile section in the Mad River Valley. Indoor camping at Andy and Beth Cook's in Waitsfield. Call them at 496-7287.
Ski February 27 Grout Pond. Reliable snow at elevation, suitable for beginners. Call George Roy at (603) 399-7756.
Ski March 6 Prospect Mountain ski tour. Classic old downhill area with groomed x-c trails in Woodford. Call Dot MacDonald at 257-7657.
Event March 11 Main Club Event CENTENNIAL 2010, Celebrating a century of Mud, Rocks, Roots, Sweat, Black Flies, Heroic Volunteers, and Great Hikes on Vermont's Long Trail. James P. Taylor and other Characters. Social 6:00 PM Program 6:30-9:00 PM. DoubleTree Hotel, 1117 Williston Road, South Burlington (home of Trader Duke's Restaurant) GREAT HORS D'OEUVRES - plus CASH BAR, BIRTHDAY CAKE & ICE CREAM. $10 DONATION SUGGESTED RSVP APPRECIATED - SPACE IS LIMITED RSVP - gmcevents@greenmountainclub.org
Ski/Snowshoe/Camp March 13-14 Merck Forest. Skiing and snowshoeing, with optional full moon overnight at a heated cabin in Rupert. Call Bonnie and Rob Cramp at 348-7158.
Meet March 28 Brattleboro Section Annual Meeting at Dummerston Center Congregational Church at 6 p.m. Pot luck dinner, business meeting, and slide show. Call Mark Brown at 254-4647.
Program April 2 Triple Crown of American Hiking, an 8,000+ mile Odyssey at Hooker-Dunham Theater in Brattleboro at 7 p.m., sponsored by the Brattleboro Section. Volunteers are needed. Call George Roy at (603) 399-7756.
Plan April 6 Spring and Summer Schedule Planning Meeting and pot luck dinner at Mark Brown’s in Dummerston at 5:30 p.m. Call Mark at 254-4647.
Bike April 24 Brookline loop, suitable for beginners. Call Kathy Lapan at 254-6547.
Hike May 1 Mount Monadnock. Great views, nearby. Call George Roy at (603) 399-7756.
Work May 8-9 Long Trail work weekend. Please bring pack frames, shovels, hoes, and clippers, and meet on Saturday at the West Dummerston Covered Bridge at 7:00 a.m. or at the parking lot on the Long Trail on Route 30 at 8 a.m. Call Mark Brown at 254-4647.
