2010 Brattleboro Section Spring and Summer Schedule

Bike April 24 Brookline loop, suitable for beginners. Call Kathy Lapan at 254-6547.
Hike May 1 Mount Monadnock. Great views, nearby. Call George Roy at (603) 399-7756.
Work May 8-9 Long Trail work weekend. Please bring pack frames, shovels, hoes, and clippers, and meet on Saturday at the West Dummerston Covered Bridge at 7:00 a.m. or at the parking lot on the Long Trail on Route 30 at 8 a.m. Call Mark Brown at 254-4647.

Meet May 22 Green Mountain Club Annual Meeting at the Club’s headquarters in Waterbury Center. Business meeting, afternoon hikes, and evening social hour. For details see the Long Trail News, or call Mari Zagarins at the Club at (802) 244-7037, ex. 24.
Hike June 5 Bald Mountain. 2.6 mile loop in Townshend State Forest, with views of West River Valley. Call Peggy Kipp at 579-2752.
Bike June 12 Amherst bike ride. A perennial favorite, with strawberries in the Pioneer Valley. Call Fred Newton at (603) 363-8944.
Hike June 19 The Pinnacle in Westminster, with optional overnight in shelter. Call Mary Beth Berberuck at 387-6281.
Bike June 26 Summer solstice century bike tour. 100 mile trip to Amherst and back, with shorter options for those that want to bail out early. Call Dot MacDonald at 257-7657.
Hike July 10 Lost Pond Bog. See the insect-eating plants in Mount Tabor. Call Mark Brown at 254-4647.
Relay July-August 100th Anniversary Hikes. These are legs of a relay to hike the entire Long Trail!
Hike July 17 Leg 1: North Adams Ma to County Road. 11.2 miles led by the Bennington Section. Call the GMC main club for additional details. 802-244-7037.
Hike July 21 Leg 5: Stratton Pond to Rootville Rd. Join Brattleboro Section member Rich Windish on this 10.7 mile easy hike. 457-2123. rwindish@hayes-windish.com
Hike July 22 Leg 6: Rootville Rd. to Rt. 11/30 parking lot. 7 miles on our section of trail, led by George Roy. 603-381-7756. neogeo@sover.net
Hike August 15 Final Leg: Rt. 242 to the Canadian border. Walter Pomroy leads the 6.2 mile hike of the 270-mile relay hike. walter@pomroycpa.com

Canoe August 28 Battenkill River. Arlington to New York border. Class I, passable except if extremely dry. Covered bridges and swimming. Call Mark Brown at 254-4647.
Bike September 10-12 Length of the state bike trip. Connecticut River Valley. Call Joe Cook at 257-0609.
Bike/Camp September 17-19 Maine Getaway. Hiking, cycling and seafood in Islesboro. Ferry reservations are required, so Call Bonnie and Rob Cramp now at 348-7158 if you want to join us.
Hike September 25 Pisgah State Park. Easy 6.7 mile hike around Kilburn Pond, close to home. Call Nick Schwab at (831) 428-2719.
Hike October 2 Stratton Mountain. Foliage hike to the birthplace of the Long and Appalachian Trails. Call Mary Beth Berberuck at 387-6281.
Bike October 9 Foliage bike tour. Easy trip from Townshend to Grafton and back, with lunch. Call Joe Cook at 257-0609.
